Johnny Harra, has been singing since the age of six. His love of music allows him the freedom of a wide varity of styles. Born in 1958,, he is the oldest of 5 children. His nationality is of the Irish and Cherokee descent . He began singing in an all boys choir and continued thru out his school years in choir ,winning state competitions and local talent shows.He plays the guitar,piano and the drums and is self taught. Johnny went on to form his first band a the age of 14 where he and fellow schoolmate Tom Long went on to record a 45 in Austin Texas called "How Can I Love You" getting airplay at local radio stations. Not getting the results he was hoping for, he never gave up and continued to hone his singing skills singing in a church his father was the pastor at. Forming a group calld "The Gospel Messengers" ,traveling to many cities all over the southern part of texas, and performing for youth rallies, and on Gospel Television shows ,Johnny soon felt that he needed to expand his horizon in his love for music and decided to leave the group much to his fathers dismay. Upon graduating from high school he went into the service and was a fiield artillery surveyor.His love of music continued and it was after he fiinished his stint in the army, that he returned to texas. one year later he moved to dalllas texas, and formed a band called Clear Steal. Johnny, is also a writer and has written over 1000 poems as well as short stories where as so far none of them have been published, but he remains confident that one day his time will come to be recognizd for his effforts. Johnny Harra will release a CD in late December called "Whispers to the Soul" To date Johnny Harra enjoys his love of singing and shares that with others on PalTalk in the music rooms featured there.
Johnny Harra hs always been a fan of Elvis. His favorite pasttime includes singing Elvis songs. Though Johnny never tries to sound like the King, he has been told on more than one occassion that he sounded like him. Non the less Johnny knows that there is and can only be one Elvis. Johnny has displayed a wide variety in his style of music that he can perform and does not wish to be catergorized as an Elvis singer only.
